The famous Coventry based car manufacturer Jaguar Land Rover is really hitting things off in America lately where its Jaguar sale has increased 36% in the last ten months and the Land Rover an impressive 14%.
These sales are set to increase further since the company has taken on a deal with a top US talent agency who will boost its stance on the American customers further through advertising within the entertainment and sports worlds. There will be movement towards the cars appearing in films and television programmes though product placement, all which will hopefully lead to an increase in manufacturing process levels here in the UK.
This news comes just after Jaguar confirmed that its new F-type Coupe is to make its debut in Los Angles this month. The new Coupe will be launched on the eve of the Los Angles car show and is set to stun. The F-type follows the success of its convertible sister which launched last year at the Paris Auto Show and was thought by many to be the first true Jaguar sports car since the E-type was produced in the 60s and 70s.
The Coupe is set to go on sale from spring next year and orders for the vehicle will open up after the LA show. The cars will be manufactured in Coventry which is historically known for its car manufacturing following the 1897 development of the first British motor car by The Daimler Motor Company Ltd and by 1939 Coventry was known as the centre of the British motor industry. Even now, after the rise and fall of the motor industry Coventry continues to produce some incredible vehicles.
With this in mind it’s no wonder that so many people from the area turn to Midlands Limousines to provide them with car hire for special occasions. We offer a range of self and chauffeur driven vehicles to people who are in need of a car for a special occasion, be in an important business meeting, a school prom or a wedding.
The roots that Coventry has in providing exemplar vehicles to the rest of the world allow us to give access to those vehicles through our own fleet and we aim to provide the best customer service around. If you are looking for the chance to experience luxury like no other on your next birthday outing or Christmas party, consider checking out luxury car hire to take you to where you want to be.
Over the weekend of November 15th to 17th the NEC hosted the Lancaster Insurance Classic Motor Show in its 30th year, and it was bigger than ever!
Outliving the British International Motorshow event that kicked it all off in the first place, the Classic Cars show is still going strong, and hosting the cars that launched in the year it all started. The Peugeot 205 GTi and Austin Rovers Montego are just two cars that launched in 1984 and little did the manufacturers know that the vehicles would be a hit with the classic car community 20 years on.
The show has grown massively since its humble beginnings, which saw two halls filled and just 70 stalls for clubs to show off their cars and now boasts a massive 250 motoring clubs, room to show around 1500 cars and 300 motorbikes in the 11 halls it takes over for the weekend. Famous cars on show include the Aston Martin DB5 which hit our big screens in the Bond movie Skyfall last year and the Gran Torino which adorned the small screens in Starsky and Hutch. Icon David Soul will be reunited with his old friend as part of the show’s Classics Reunited theme and motorsport guest star Sir Stirling Moss will also be attendance,
The show is a must for any classic car lover, or even a lover of motors in general and if you have someone if your family with this love you should treat them to a ticket when it returns next year. In the meanwhile Christmas and birthday gifts for the car lover in your life could include the chance to drive their very own sports or luxury vehicle for the day, get away in a classic car for the weekend, or a ride to somewhere special in the back of a limousine. At Midlands Limousines we offer the chance to drive your very own luxury car or the opportunity to relax in the back of a chauffeur driven classic Rolls Royce, what more could you ask for?
With other car shows across the country you could even travel in style to other events as part of a special celebration and pick up a few friends on the way. With our proven reputation dealing with people from all walks of life, including footballers and other celebrities, we can look after all your luxury car needs.
This statistic isn’t one to be proud of. New figures released by the road safety charity Brake have shown that over 10,500 people living in the S postcode, therefore part of Sheffield, have points on their driving license due to phone use.
Road Safety Week ran from 18th until 24th November and it saw Brake bringing together hundreds of reports, statistics and awareness campaigns to teach us all about the importance of Road Safety. At Midlands Limos we never underestimate the importance of safety on the roads and ensure all our chauffeurs are hand-picked for their professionalism and quality, safe driving.
This new campaign is being supported by thousands across the UK, including those who have suffered first-hand as a result of dangerous driving. Parents of one teen who died due to a truck driver sending a text have appealed to everyone on the road. They’ve highlighted how you cannot get away with multitasking behind the wheel and nothing is worth the danger you put yourself and others in when you take your eyes off the road.
Statistics for Sheffield
The S5 postcode area is where the most phone activity takes place. Nearly 400 men and 90 women have been caught using their phones whilst driving in this area and it’s closely followed by S6, S10 and S8.
The campaign is focusing on encouraging all drivers to turn their phones off when they get behind the wheel or to store them in the boot out of reach. It’s also asking that anybody phoning someone who says they’re driving to end the calls and avoid speaking to them.
None of our drivers at Midlands Limos have their phones switched on, on duty and we offer dedicated levels of professionalism. Our clients can be assured that the only thing on the minds of our drivers is the road!
Events took place across the UK to raise awareness of Road Safety Week. Demonstrations have taken place across schools, universities and town centres across Yorkshire and the rest of the UK. They have worked on educating about the dangers of mobile phones and other distractions. They’ve focused on educating people about the importance of looking out for hazards on the road including cyclists and pedestrians.
The Association of Chief Police Officers has also taken a part in the campaign – offering a heightened police enforcement of hand-held phones used in cars. There is hope that this event will be remembered for the long term and we’ll see improvement across the board and across our roads!
A driving ban can have a huge impact on anybody’s lifestyle and for some, it could be extremely damaging. In the last few days one of Lincoln City’s newest players, Luke Foster, has appeared before court and told them of the troubles he’ll face if he receives any type of driving ban.
Appearing at Barnsley Magistrates’ Court Foster has asserted he needs his car to be able to drive from his home address out in Monk Bretton to the club’s training ground in Lincoln five days every week. He also stated that because he is new to the club, only signed in the last transfer window, he faces being released from his contract if he doesn’t show at training sessions.
Foster highlighted that the club is not short of players so he could be at risk of losing his job and he also cited his drop in wages when transferring to Lincoln City from Preston meaning he couldn’t afford not to drive. Another reason for needing his car on a daily basis he stated, was the need to pick up one of his children from school every day when training has finished.
Foster was in court after being arrested for a speeding offence and handing himself in. He admitted via letter that he had been speeding and was found guilty in his absence of failing to give police his driver information. He reason for this was the fact that he had needed to move after changing clubs and the speed of the move meant he hadn’t received any of the court letters.
The Judge on the day gave Foster until December 5th to take an in depth look at what the consequences would be if he were to receive a driving ban. He made suggestions such as looking into alternative travel arrangement into and out of Lincoln and also considering someone else to do pick up his child from school.
Of course Lincoln City are only a Conference level team so it is understandable why Foster may experience these financial worries. However, footballers receiving driving bans is not uncommon and just this month Stephane Sessegnon of West Bromwich Albion received a ban. Players in the higher leagues have the benefit of being able to utilise chauffeured cars from their clubs or even private companies like Midlands Limos.
Although Midlands Limos may not be able to help out Luke Foster in his current plight we do have many satisfied customers from the Lincolnshire area who have hired both our chauffeured and self-drive vehicles for special occasions and even just daily use.
